Energid's smartCodec, designed for mobile battlefield communications conditions, also delivers robust tele-robotic communications for mobile surveillance, industrial tele-robotics, and consumer tele-robotics applications. Civilian networks involve substantial latency variation and signal variation especially in mobile applications and high-EMI environments.The Energid smartCodec streams critical video/image, audio, and haptic data with high efficiency, quality, and reliability. The codec adapts to the abrupt changes in network bandwidth and latency common in commercial mobile communications. The codec's closed-loop optimization provides dynamic data prioritization, responds to receiver-end user priorities, and compensates for latency jitter in the network. The smartCodec includes a compact hardware encoder and either software or hardware decoder.
The smartCodec is unique in its ability to sense and rapidly adapt to changing network conditions. The codec adapts in under 60ms and can scale down video bitrate over 10x while still maintaining smooth visual feedback.
