Energid Receives Tec Award From The National Science Foundation To Support Robotic Inspection

Cambridge, Massachusetts (January 25, 2011) — Energid received funding under the Technology Enhancement for Commercial Partnerships (TECP) program to develop robotic inspection systems. This funding will be used to productize Energid’s robotic systems for supporting high-end high-demand automated inspection of electronics. Energid’s existing software for robotic sensing and manipulation will be extended to enable a breakthrough in automated inspection that includes both robotic manipulation and image processing. With robotic manipulators, oddly shaped parts can be reached around and moving parts can be shifted. With Energids 3D vision algorithms, components can be inspected in place. The project will also support the development of a process for inspecting custom components that can be easily configured.
