| Project: | Surgery Simulation and Training | | Client: | US Army |

Energid is creating a virtual surgical simulation environment unlike any used before. The interface is untethered-without connection to any equipment. Surgeons freely use unconnected knives, clamps, forceps, needle holders, and scissors. This will be realized by a novel vision-based tracking system and a new haptic device capable of applying feedback through magnetic force. This new technology will be applied through a modular software design. Simulation variants will train students and residents, teach new skills to experienced surgeons, and allow continuing practice of operations that require significant technical skill.
Creating a simulation-based trainer requires psychological optimization, medical procedure design, software design, and hardware design. Of these, we are currently focused on procedures and software. This allows us to leverage existing company technology to address critical issues and demonstrate our ideas.
