Energid to present at Schunk International Expert Days, Hausen, Germany
James English, President and Chief Technical Officer of Energid Technologies, will present a talk on "Configurable Manipulation and Grasping" at the second Schunk International Expert Days conference.  Dr. English's talk will focus on how the ability to easily change hardware allows a robot to be matched to a problem and how software tools developed by Energid enable and support fast hardware changes.  During the talk, a software technique will be shown that works with any number of cooperating fixed-base or mobile robotic manipulators with each having any kind of joint and any number of constraints.

November 19, 2008
Energid to speak at RoboDevelopment Conference, Santa Clara, CA
Combining manipulation and mobility will be the subject of a talk given by Energid Technologies' President and CTO, James English, PhD.  Dr. English will speak on the practical combination of robotic manipulation and mobility.  Commercial mobile-base manufacturers are adding arms and advanced arm manufacturers are finding application on mobile platforms.  To advance these systems, methods are needed for coordinating motion to achieve the best performance in both manipulation and locomotion.  Additionally, support is also needed for simulating designs and applications before fielding.  This talk will present methods and tools for addressing these needs and using mobility and manipulation together.

October 23, 2008
Energid to speak at Defeating Improvised Explosive Devices Conference, San Diego, CA

IEDs are the leading killer of allied troops in Iraq and Afghanistan, and the challenge is proliferating around the globe.  This conference enabled DOD's and DHS's top officials to share their needs and concerns with industry and it enabled industry to share their new technologies that may help our officials to integrate a holistic approach to suppressing this threat.  James Bacon, Energid's Chief Financial Officer and Principal Engineer, presented on "Simulation-based Validation of Counter-IED Systems" with an emphasis on rapidly prototyping new technologies while saving time and money.  An approach was presented for using simulation to assist with developing requirements, demonstrating prototypes of the design early and often, testing the design in software before building hardware, and creating a validated and accredited simulation for facilitating the training of the end user.  Design of new robotics solutions was used as a test case for this approach to counter-IED development.
