Under contract to the Army, Energid has developed a codec designed for streaming video/image, audio and haptic data with high efficiency and quality is required. Although general video conference codecs are available, these codecs were designed mainly considering open loop data compression and decompression. Exploiting human-in-the-loop information as an intrinsic part of codec performance has not as of yet been considered by the state of the art. Additionally, there is no other codec device available for streaming visual, audio and haptic control signals while minimizing latency impact for a robotic system.
Energid's codec a) reliably operates over a range of bandwidths and network configurations, b) rapidly adapts to abrupt changes in available network bandwidth, c) supports haptics teleoperation in a bilateral master-slave telerobotic system, d) minimizes the impact of latency, and e) exploits human factors information from the operator to optimize the algorithm in real-time. Would you like Energid to apply this expertise to solve your robotics problem? Please contact us.
