Haptic Simulation Method Awarded To Energid Technologies

CAMBRIDGE, MA— April 2, 2013 — Energid was awarded a patent for a new method for simulating the forces on a needle. 

A haptic simulation method determines a location of the needle assembly within a magneto-rheological fluid. The needle assembly within the magneto-rheological fluid is associated with a desired resistance value. A viscosity control signal representative of the desired resistance value is generated, and the viscosity control signal is applied to a control device to vary the viscosity of the magneto-rheological fluid to achieve the desired resistance value.
